Weddings are landmark occasions, both emotionally and legally. They are a turning point, nothing will ever be the same.
The focal point of such occasions is usually the bride. I wanted to try and capture some of the thoughts that might be going through the bride's mind as she embarks on this journey.
I was also inspired by the traditional depictions in western art of women in veils. These works often utilize beautiful curving lines and shadows. Today, there is not much opportunity to follow in the footsteps of these artists in depicting modern life. One exception is in drawing brides.
All of the drawings in this series were drawn with black charcoal and white pastel (or white Conte) on toned paper.
