EARLY DRAWINGSThe sixth drawing in the portfolio is of the actor Lionel Barrymore. While Valda never aspired to be in the movies, she did have an early interest in movies. She visited some of the major studios and watched films being made during a visit to Hollywood in the early 1940s. Later, while pursuing her studies at the Art Students League, she was an executive assistant at the Motion Picture Association in New York.
The drawing is graphite on 8.5 x 11 inch light weight paper. |
