Art by Valda

EARLY DRAWINGS

Picture of the artist ValdaValda drawing in the 1930s.
The ninth drawing in the portfolio is of the gangster John Dillinger who became a folk legend during the Great Depression.  He robbed banks in parts of the Midwest until he was killed in a gun battle with the FBI in 1934.  Valda's drawing appears to be derived from a mug shot of Dillinger.

The drawing is graphite on 8.5 x 11 inch light weight paper.
